High Key Dog
October 22, 2008 – 6:46 am
A couple of days ago I mentioned that I had a personal project to share. As you may have guessed from No Dogs on Dropzone I spent Saturday at San Diego Skydiving. No…I didn’t jump out of a perfectly good plane, but my husband and a few friends did. I stayed firmly planted on the ground and since I had my camera I thought I’d see if there were any potential dog shots for the blog.
Given the first sign I encountered, I suspected I wouldn’t find any, but I did indeed find some furry pals to photograph. While I only took a few photos, I decided as I was downloading them to see if I could get a weeks worth of blog entries without them looking completely repetitive. So here goes….let’s see if I can bring seven photos from Saturday without boring you all to tears. This is #2.

The Beagles are here
July 30, 2008 – 5:56 am
I’ve had some slight technical difficulty getting today’s post up , so my apologies for those of you who checked in earlier. Hopefully the post looks a bit more normal now.
I thought I had better post a photo of a Beagle pretty soon. I had heard murmerings from a couple of blog reading Beagle lovers, so I though I had better appease the masses.
I was obviously going through a real ‘angle’ phase when I undertook this photo session. It was particularly obvious to me when I rediscovered these photos last weekend. While the angle might be a little much for my current tastes I still love the image. I’m a bit of a fan of almost monochromatic colour schemes where the dogs match the colours of their surroundings.
A Poll

I’m happy to report that A Dog A Day has been running for 80 days. So far I’m really happy to have so many awesome regular readers. Thanks so much for dropping by and for your continued support. Now it’s my time to give something back. I want to know what it is that you want to read about. Of course, the photos will keep coming, I just want to focus my discussions more towards what you, the blog reader, wants to hear. Please complete this simple poll to let me know what you think. You should be able to vote multiple times if there a few options that take your fancy. If there is something I’ve missed, please leave me a comment.

Of course, it’s not a real post without a Dog photo! Here’s Nemo once again.
I didn’t do it

This georgeous chocolate lab is called Wombat, after the Australian marsupial. When I discovered her name I nodded at the resemblance. Wombats are fabulous creatures which aren’t really seen that often in the wild, but during one trip to Cradle Mountain in Tasmania I had an up close and personal experience with a BIG one.
Anyway, back to this Wombat. As you can see, she has mastered ‘the look’. The ‘there is no way I could have done it becuase I’m so darn cute’ look. In this case, she was allowed on the special rug for photos. She knew she wasn’t supposed to be there and was just making sure with Mum that it was ok to sit there.
The original processing I did on this photo had quite bright colours so I added a bit of an old school feel to bring the image back in line with the furnishings in the background. I think I like the muted colours better on this one.
Cav

There is something about Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which makes them so photogenic. I think it might be a combination of their compact little face, beautiful coat and ears that frame the face. They always seem to take great photos, just like this other Cav puppy I photographed.
