I’m off to Dayton, Ohio!

Today I’m travelling most of the way across the country to Dayton, Ohio. In my real life I earn a living as an Aerospace Engineer. I’m in the USA for three years to act as a technical liaison between Australia and the USA. It’s a great job and I get to do lots of interesting things. I’m not sure whether Dayton, Ohio is going to be interesting or not.

When I ask people about what there is to do there, I get told that it’s got a great Aerospace Museum. Ummm…ok. Is that it. Surely there is more??? If any readers come from the area, please drop me a line and let me know what I must see and do during my three weeks out there. I have a car and will travel on weekends.

Today’s dog photo has to include my favourite girl in the world, Zoe. I’m going to miss her so much while I’m away. Thankfully my husband, Brendan will be home with her for most of my trip so I don’t need to worry about deserting her completely.

This is the ‘Hurry Up’ look she was giving me on a hike we did up in Idyllwild over the Easter weekend.

Oh My Dog!

Oh My Dog! is a Fine Art Photography gallery in Idyllwild, California. Frank Bruynbroek is the artist and an awfully nice guy to talk to. I discovered this gallery during our short break in March and on the Sunday afternoon I convinced Brendan that we didn’t need another hike, but we did need to visit this gallery.

I’m so glad we did. Frank was inspirational. His life story and how he ended up following his passion with dog photography spoke volumes to me. It was then that I decided that I wanted to get back into it. I had closed down my pet photography business in Australia to move to the USA with my real job as an Aerospace Engineer. I was missing it terribly. It became obvious to me that dog photography really is my passion and to be happy I really should pursue it. This blog is the manifestation of this realisation. At the moment it is my one creative outlet, but I’m sure there will be more projects to come in the future.

Tell me his breed and win a coupon!

As Brendan and I were wandering through the almost deserted streets of Idyllwild, California one Monday afternoon we met a man with this handsome boy. I know the photo doesn’t do his size any justice, but he is a huge dog. I was told what breed he was, but since I had never heard of it before, I promptly forgot it.

If you know what breed he is, leave me a comment with the answer. First correct answer (I’m sure it will come to me as soon as I hear it) will get a $50 Thousand Hound Photography gift voucher to use in the Thousand Hound store. If you don’t know the answer, leave me a comment anyway. If no-one has the correct answer, the best comment will win the voucher! Winner will be announced on 22 May 08.

Hint: He’s of Russian origin and is a natural guardian.
