Wolf stalks Doe and her Fawn

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be posting this photo today. A few weeks ago Hubby and I travelled to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks in Wyoming. I had heard the wildlife viewing in Yellowstone was awesome and the Grand Tetons were stunning, so it was definitely a trip I wanted to make while we were in the USA.

One morning we got up early and headed into the Grand Tetons to get some landscape photos. Unfortunately the light wasn’t great for landscape shots, but one benefit to being up early was seeing so much wildlife. When we saw this doe and fawn in this clearing we pulled over and I started snapping some quick shots. While I waited for something to happen I spotted a wolf dissapearing into the brush. I was so dissapointed that I had missed the shot, but was just thankful I got to see it. For about 20 minutes we watched the doe stamping the ground, fending off the wolves she knew were there. Finally, the wolves must have cleared out and the doe and her fawn wandered off into the woods. It was a tense time and I was very worried it was going to end badly for that baby.

You can imagine my surprise when today I checked the first shot I took that morning and saw the wolf clearly in sight. I didn’t see it at the time, but the camera caught it.

Fifty Nine

In March I spent a long weekend in New York City with my good friend. There was certainly no shortage of dogs to photograph as everyone seemed to have their dogs out on walks. Every dog we came across seemed so well behaved. There is either something in the water there or people do an excellent job socialising their dogs from a young age.

Reading the paper

Happy New Years Eve. I hope has a fun and safe night. I don’t really get into crazy partying at New Years but I’m sure I’ll have a few drinks to celebrate.

Watching the world go by

Coyote

I can’t tell you how excited I was to finally see my first coyote. And not just see….. but be close enough to photograph her. Isn’t she beautiful?

This shot was taken in the stunning Sequoia National Park, home of the world’s biggest tree.

Mini Dobe?

Is there such a thing as a Miniature Doberman? If so, this sure looks like one. I googled the breed, but all I could find was a Miniature Pinscher. I suspect that’s what this little guy is.

This was photographed in Sonoma, California, a gorgeous little town we came across on Thanksgiving Day. It was cold (by California standards) so everyone was all rugged up.

Backpacking in style

In less than a week, this will be Brendan and I (minus the dog)…backpacking through Central America. I can’t wait!
