Hiking in Switzerland

In May, Brendan and I spent eight days in beautiful Switzerland. I can’t even describe how much I loved that trip.

First of all, it’s true that every vista is postcard perfect. Just when you think you’ve seen the most beautiful view of your life, another angle trumps it. If you’d like to see some non-dog photos from our trip, check out my photos in this Facebook Album.

Secondly, Switzerland has to be the most organised country ever. Their systems are excellent….every train ran perfectly on time and everything just works! For an engineer like me I can’t tell you how much I appreciated the sense of order.

Thirdly…the hiking is brilliant. You can get off a train and hike in any direction you like for as long as you like and then catch another train or post-bus to return you to your hotel for the night. Every little path is sign-posted so you can happily wander the countryside with no plan and no concern about getting lost. Truly, I loved every minute and would go back in a heartbeat!

Poppy and Wombat

Feelin’ the breeze

Photographed in Jerome, Arizona - One of the cutest little towns I’ve been to in USA.

Balloon Festival

This photo was taken in Canberra, Australia during the annual Balloon Festival held in April (Autumn in Southern Hemisphere). I loved that time of year in Canberra. The mornings are crisp and full of blue skies, and mostly downright cold, but oh so invigorating.

Cowgirl loves her dog

This photo was taken in Julian, California not long after I arrived in the USA. I was fascinated to see someone actually wearing a ‘cowgirl’ hat. I know this is going to sound so funny to the Americans reading this, but honestly when you live in another country, you aren’t sure whether to believe certain stereotypes exist. Anyway, I’m extremely happy to find that people actually wear Stetsons (is that what they’re called?) and when we were in Texas my dear husband had to physically remove me from the shop before I bought myself some boots and matching hat. Not sure that an Aussie girl could have pulled it off in SoCal.

Double the Lab

I know I’m extremely late posting today, but I’ve been out at the Temecula Wineries all day. Excuses, excuses I know. Hopefully some of the many dog photos I took at the wineries work out and I can post some later in the week.

Choccy Lab

Photographed in bushland near my previous home in Canberra, Australia. This place looked remarkable in the late afternoon sun and the best thing was that it was fully enclosed so all the dogs could run free. It was such a great location to live and we do miss it. It’s funny (but also sad) how we take things for granted until we no longer have them. These days I try my best to be thankful every day.

I know I have quite a lot of photos of Labrador Retrievers on this blog. The truth is, Labradors were hands down the most popular breed I photographed when I was running my pet photography business in Canberra.
