Wolf stalks Doe and her Fawn

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be posting this photo today. A few weeks ago Hubby and I travelled to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks in Wyoming. I had heard the wildlife viewing in Yellowstone was awesome and the Grand Tetons were stunning, so it was definitely a trip I wanted to make while we were in the USA.

One morning we got up early and headed into the Grand Tetons to get some landscape photos. Unfortunately the light wasn’t great for landscape shots, but one benefit to being up early was seeing so much wildlife. When we saw this doe and fawn in this clearing we pulled over and I started snapping some quick shots. While I waited for something to happen I spotted a wolf dissapearing into the brush. I was so dissapointed that I had missed the shot, but was just thankful I got to see it. For about 20 minutes we watched the doe stamping the ground, fending off the wolves she knew were there. Finally, the wolves must have cleared out and the doe and her fawn wandered off into the woods. It was a tense time and I was very worried it was going to end badly for that baby.

You can imagine my surprise when today I checked the first shot I took that morning and saw the wolf clearly in sight. I didn’t see it at the time, but the camera caught it.
