If you ever make the trip to San Francisco, I can highly recommend a visit to Sausalito. It’s a lovely little township just over the Golden Gate Bridge and in the afternoons it has a wonderful view of the city as the sun sets. There are plenty of beautiful, upmarket art galleries which I happily wandered through for a few hours, and the main street is lined with restaurants wafting delicious smells.
I followed this lady and her Collie around for a good while. I thought she might suspect that I was stalking her (which I guess I was, but in a nice way). Look a little closely at this photo and you’ll find what the Collie is watching.
“What is it girl? Timmy’s in trouble?”

I love how the dog is looking at the bird. It looks like he’s thinking “hmmmm, I could chase you, but my Mum has food” LOL.
Mia, I don’t think I’ve seen a photograph of your I didn’t like! This one is wonderful (beautiful dog!) You really do have the most amazing eye.
Grace…I’ve never been asked not to take a photo when I’m in pursuit of dog shots. I make it really obvious that I’m photographing the dog and that the people in the shot are just incidental. In most cases I will ask for permission and people always say yes. However, photographing people is a whole other story. I get a lot more rejections when this is my purpose. Actually I was photographing a dog in a park in San Francisco. It was squarely in the middle of a circle of ‘alternates’ doing who knows what. That group thought I was photographing them and one of them yelled at me. That was a little uncomfortable, but I’ll post the photo one day and we’ll see if it was worth it. :)
Love the light and composition in this photo. The little peek at what the dog is so intently staring at is great too. I love Sausalito - the ferry ride over is so nice too! So has anyone ever noticed you taking their photo and asked you NOT to?
gorgeous! lovely light and nice post-processing. and the bird’s blur is quite the nice touch. makes me want to go out and start stalking dog people on the streets out here… :p
