Having lived in various places around Australia and now in Southern California, I’ve actually found it much more acceptable in the USA to take your dog anywhere. It’s one of the things I love most about living here.
Zoe comes down to the local cafe whenever we go and there is always a water bowl and dog biscuits for her. Small dogs can travel on planes as carry-on luggage, and most hotels will allow a dog in their rooms for a small extra fee. I’ve even see dogs in national parks (on leads), which is something not allowed in Australia.
I want Australia to embrace the doggy culture like the US does, although I suspect we’re already headed there. Who would have thought a few years ago that a pet photographer could actually get work :)

I agree that Australia should embrace it but most of them are too lazy to pick up their dog’s pooh!
