When I was living in Canberra, Australia I ran a dog photography business. It was hard to imagine that I had found a hobby which combined my love of photography with my love of dogs. It was even harder to imagine that I managed to turn that hobby into a successful business.
Unfortunately when I moved to the USA to pursue my other job (Aerospace Engineering), I had to close down the business. I have every intention of doing something with it in future, I’m just not sure what form that will take yet.
Today’s photo is of Lionel, a beautiful Great Dane who has now sadly passed away from cancer. When I visited Lionel on his property it had been raining torrentially for a week and the ground was water-logged. It didn’t stop him galloping around like a puppy though…a rather large puppy. I was nearly bowled over a couple of times as he decided to include me in his romp.
I captured this photo once he had decided that he’s had enough running around and heads back towards home and the warmth of a good fire.

I love this photo! I’m a bit obsessed with GDs, though I’m not lucky enough to own one. I think the angle here is really great - you really capture the sort of “horse-like” trait of the dog. At least I think so. :)
What a beautiful and LARGE dog! Your photos are fantastic.
Don’t worry…prints will be available sometime in May. :)
I LOVE your work! Wow, double-wow!! Excellent stuff! I’ll be back…often! (I’m partial to Danes, so I especially like this one.) You should sell prints!
Another great photo. I love the detail. I love black and white photos! I would like to pre-order a copy of that book!
